The System

The Content Repurposing Playbook

One piece of content should never live in one place. Here's how to turn a single idea into a content engine.

Core Framework

The 1:7 Content Rule

Every long-form piece of content (podcast, YouTube video, webinar, blog post) should generate at least 7 derivative pieces. Here's the breakdown.

1
Original Content
Your podcast, video, presentation, or written piece. This is the raw material.
2
Short-Form Clips
Pull 3-5 standalone moments. Each should have a hook, a point, and a payoff in under 60 seconds.
3
YouTube Deep-Dive
Expand a single angle into a 8-15 min YouTube video with a structured intro, body, and CTA.
4
LinkedIn Story Post
Turn the personal angle into a narrative post. Open with tension, deliver the lesson.
5
Carousel Breakdown
Take the how-to or framework and turn it into 6-10 swipeable slides with clear takeaways.
6
Quote Graphics
Pull 2-3 strong one-liners and make them into standalone image posts.
Email / Newsletter
Repurpose the story or insight into your email list. Different audience, different context, same IP.

What Works on Each Platform

Each platform rewards different things. Repurposing doesn't mean copy-pasting. It means reframing.

Short-Form (Reels / TikTok / Shorts)
Hook in 0-3 seconds. One idea per video. End before they expect it.
Best clips come from moments of genuine emotion, a bold opinion, or a surprising stat. Don't try to summarize the whole video.
YouTube Long-Form
Promise a transformation in the first 30 seconds. Deliver it over 8-15 minutes.
Structure: Hook > Context > 3-5 Points > Summary > CTA. Retention matters more than length. Cut anything that doesn't earn its place.
LinkedIn Posts
Open with a punchy first line. Use white space. Tell a story, then land the insight.
The first 2 lines decide if people click "see more". Lead with tension, a number, or a counterintuitive statement. Never start with "I'm excited to announce".
Carousel Posts
Slide 1: Bold claim or question. Slides 2-8: Teach. Last slide: CTA.
Each slide should make sense on its own but build on the last. Use headlines + short body copy. Avoid walls of text. Design for the swipe.
Quality Check

The Repurposing Checklist

Before you publish any repurposed piece, run it through these checks.

01
Does it stand alone?

Someone who never saw the original content should still get full value from this piece.

  • No "as I mentioned in my last video"
  • Full context in every piece
02
Is it native to the platform?

Each platform has a native feel. Your content should match it.

  • Vertical for Reels/TikTok, horizontal for YouTube
  • Text-heavy for LinkedIn, visual for Instagram
  • Pacing and tone should match the platform
03
Does it have its own hook?

Every repurposed piece needs its own reason to stop the scroll. Don't recycle the same hook.

  • Different angle, same core message
  • Tailor the hook to the platform's audience
Strategy

Content Pillar Mapping

Every piece of repurposed content should map back to one of your core pillars. This keeps your feed cohesive and your audience clear on what you do.

Pillar
Authority
Teach something. Share frameworks, systems, processes. Position yourself as the expert.
Pillar
Story
Share a personal experience, client win, or lesson learned. Make people feel something.
Pillar
Social Proof
Show results. Case studies, testimonials, before/after. Let the work speak.
Pillar
Belief-Shifting
Challenge assumptions. Break myths. Show people why the "normal" approach is wrong.
Amplifier
Trend / Culture
Tie your content to what's happening now. Trending formats, sounds, or news.
Amplifier
Behind the Scenes
Show the process. People connect with the work, not just the result.
